MAKE IT | Letter-Stamped Charms! For Valentine’s Day, or Your Wedding! | A DIY by Renee Hong

There are certain things in life we do not question and instead accept as fact.  It’s your basic “if p, then q.”  An unwritten guarantee of an outcome.  For example:

If you are getting your partner anything other than sex for Valentine’s Day, then the love is gone.

See how cut and dry that is?  Things that make sense comfort me.

The thing is, it’s not always as simple as that.  Take gift-giving for a holiday like V-Day for example, or the tough process of finding the right gifts for your bridesmaids.  You want *THE PERFECT* thing.  The thing that’s going to show them - once and for all - that you actually give a shit about them (because you do!)  But…….. what??

Resident president of pretty, Renee Hong, is coming to the rescue on this one.  And the simple + pretty factor of today’s DIY is gonna knock your socks right off your feet, and you’re actually gonna have to get up and go get them if you still wanna be wearing socks after seeing her beautiful project.  Last thing if you don’t mind: when you get back from retrieving your socks please do let Renee know in the comments if you thought today’s project was groovy!! :)

And now, this lovely DIY project.

Today we’re talking little details! This DIY is an easy trick that’ll fool anyone into thinking you custom ordered or store bought this little gem. These charms are multi-use friendly and can be used to add a little personalization to just about anything! You can wrap ‘em around your utensils to be given to guests as a wedding favor, string across the cover of a photo album to turn it into a guestbook, or even tie it to a necklace as a gift to your bridesmaids/flower girls — ready to learn it?

What you’ll need:
– Brass stamping blanks (any shape, I used hearts — they also come in circles, triangles, squares)
– Metal hole punch
– Metal letter stamping blocks (the same ones I talked about from this http://theknottybride.com/34733 post)
– Metal block (optional)
– Hammer
– Twine/jute string

Step 1:
Place your brass piece on the metal block or on any very sturdy, solid surface. Take a metal letter stamp (perhaps a monogram, a number, or an even an ampersand!) and hammer it into the center of the brass heart.

Step 2: Punch a small hole in the top center of the brass piece, where you want the string to run through.

Step 3: Run the twine through your freshly punched hole and tie into a knot — now your little personalized heart is ready to go! Wrap it around something to add a sweet touch or give it away as a piece of jewelry… the possibilities with these simple charms are endless!

What do you think? Does it look DIY-ed to you?!
